Mr. Deacon began his early work in family law during his studies at Capital University Law School where he received a concentration in family law, with a focus on adoption law and assisted reproduction technology law. He has volunteered with the National Center for Adoption Law and Policy, in which he was responsible for updating the national database of adoption law and served as a judge for the National Moot Court Competition in Child Welfare and Adoption Law.
Upon graduating from Capital University with pro bono honors and in the Order of the Curia, Mr. Deacon clerked under two judges before rising to the position of Staff Attorney for the Franklin County Probate Court, the busiest probate court in the state of Ohio. During his time as Staff Attorney, Mr. Deacon experienced firsthand the importance of successful estate planning. He was responsible for working with the judge to determine the dispositions of issues involving multi-million-dollar estate and trusts.
Growing up with, and being involved in his family’s business, Mr. Deacon learned firsthand how a family business becomes subject to litigation in divorce proceedings. His business degree and background bring a unique understanding and solid knowledge to clients navigating divorce cases, and others needing simple-to-complex estate planning.
Mr. Deacon is an active member of the New Mexico State Bar, Ohio State bar, and sits on the Miami University’s Alpha Sigma Phi Housing Corporation board of directors, in which he was a founding member. He enjoys working with all types of family law cases and excels in problem-solving and negotiations.
